Surviving BBQ's--Tips and Tricks

Grill Talk!
Instead of fatty burgers, reach for grilled chicken breast if it’s an option. If you're looking to do the BYOG thing (that stands for Bring Your Own Grill-ables), stop at your local market and snag the following foods:

1. Hebrew National 97% Fat-Free Hot Dogs
They taste as good as full-fat dogs and have a fraction of the calories and fat (for a POINTS value of 1).

2. Boca Meatless Burgers Original
Meat-free but full of burger flavor, these rock. And with a POINTS value of 1, feel free to enjoy two of 'em.

3. Gardenburger Black Bean Chipotle Veggie Burgers
Yet another incredibly delicious option with a POINTS value of 1. These have a Mexican kick!

4. Fresh Corn on the Cob
Believe it or not, a small- to medium-sized ear of corn will only add about 100 calories to your meal (and a POINTS value of 2). So toss a few on the barbie, spritz them with some no-calorie butter spray and start nibbling!

Step away from the slaw.
Mayo-packed salads are a summertime no-no. Potato salad and macaroni salad can add too many calories and fat grams to your meal, so ditch those silly sides. And if you can’t resist some slaw, try this little HG trick...place coleslaw in a colander and rinse it until the water runs clear. You'll wash away loads of fat but not the flavor!

HG Summer Shocker
The average BBQ meal contains an astonishing 1,300 to 1,800 calories. That's more calories than some of us need in an entire day. Eeek!
